Northland School Division announces appointments to Inclusive Education Department

Northland School Division (NSD) is pleased to announce two appointments for the Inclusive Education Department. Raphael Adeniyi has been appointed as Inclusive Education Coordinator and Anita Emsland has been appointed as Administrative Assistant for Inclusive Education.
Raphael Adeniyi – Inclusive Education Coordinator
Adeniyi began his educational career as a high school learning support teacher at Arlington High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also worked as a substitute teacher and second grade classroom assistant with Indianapolis Public Schools before moving to Alberta. In Alberta, he has worked in First Nations schools as a learning resource teacher, specialized classroom teacher, special education coordinator and vice principal.
Adeniyi holds a Higher National Diploma in accounting from the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Nigeria, a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Martin University in Indianapolis and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Indianapolis. He has also pursued a post-graduate diploma in applied psychology at the University of Calgary.
In his role with NSD, Adeniyi will be the contact for individual program plans (IPPs), school support and professional learning. He will work primarily with principals and teachers.
Anita Emsland – Administrative Assistant for Inclusive Education
Emsland, originally from Edmonton, has lived in Fort McMurray since 2003 and in Anzac for the past nine years. She has worked in administrative roles since 2003, including in the construction industry, and joined Anzac Community School in 2022.
At Anzac Community School, she has supported extracurricular activities such as Drama Club and Media Club, while also sharing her passion for art with students. She has showcased her artwork in Fort McMurray and Anzac and uses art as a tool to support student expression and self regulation. Emsland also hosts paint nights and women’s empowerment art events that bring the community together. She says it is a privilege to join the Inclusive Education Department and looks forward to continuing to grow and stay involved in the community.
In her role with NSD, Emsland will be responsible for administrative duties, consent letters, approval letters, PowerSchool, Provincial Approach to Student Information (PASI) and secretary training. She will work primarily with secretaries and support principals and teachers as needed.
In their roles with Northland School Division, both Adeniyi and Emsland will report to Director of Inclusive Education Michelle Wile.
