Posted on August 22

Northland School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Taryn Wellsman as St. Theresa School Vice-Principal.

Taryn began her teaching career with grades 9–12 in Wainwright, before teaching grades 7 and 9 with Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC). She then moved into upper management with a locally based company, gaining valuable administrative experience in the corporate world. Wanting to return to education, Taryn came back to teaching in a Grade 1/2 split class at Father R. Perin School in Janvier. In 2019, she joined St. Theresa School and quickly found a strong connection to the school and community.

“Taryn understands the context and the overarching goals at Northland School Division,” said Cal Johnson, Superintendent of Schools/CEO. “I am confident she is ready for this important leadership opportunity. Taryn will provide excellent support to Shelley and strong leadership at St. Theresa School.”

“I’m so excited at the chance to have this opportunity,” said Wellsman. “To train as an administrator under Shelley and support her in continuing to offer amazing educational experiences for our students. I look forward to growing my career and life here with the amazing staff, students, and families of St. Theresa School.”

Taryn began her post-secondary studies at MacEwan University before transferring to the University of Alberta, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree.
