Mike DeRaps appointed principal of Bill Woodward School

Northland School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike DeRaps as the new principal of Bill Woodward School.

Mike brings a wealth of experience to the role. Originally from Rangeley, Maine, he began his teaching career after graduating from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Business Education. In his hometown, he taught six classes a day while also coaching the girls basketball team. After eight years of hard work, the team won Rangeley’s first ever state title.

For the past 13 years, Mike has worked in education across western Canada, serving as an administrator in several remote communities. His leadership experience and commitment to supporting both academics and extracurricular programs make him a fit for Bill Woodward School.

“I am excited about joining the Bill Woodward educational staff and look forward to helping with the curriculum, staff needs and especially supporting the extra curricular activities,” said DeRaps. “I have visited the community and look forward to living there.”

“Mike brings leadership experience and an understanding of the needs of students and families in the communities we serve,” said Superintendent of Schools/CEO Cal Johnson. “We are excited to welcome Mike as the new Principal of Bill Woodward School in Anzac. 

Mike will begin his new role as Principal at Bill Woodward School on August 25th.
