Family Wellness Worker
St. Theresa and Calling Lake School
Northland School Division is currently seeking a full-time Family Wellness Worker to join our dedicated teams at St. Theresa and Calling Lake School. St. Theresa School is a kindergarten to grade 6 school located in the community of Wabasca-Desmarais, Alberta. Wabasca-Desmarais is sheltered in the majestic North and South Wabasca Lakes. With a population of 3,300 split between Municipal District of Opportunity residents and Bigstone Cree Nation members, the area is rich with culture mixed with small-town leisurely charm. Calling Lake School is a kindergarten to grade 12 school located in Calling Lake, Alberta. This beautiful, charming community is situated on the eastern shore of Calling Lake, known for its tranquility and recreational pleasures. Calling Lake is approximately 60 kilometres away from Athabasca, Alberta and approximately 200 kilometres from Edmonton, Alberta.
The Family Wellness Worker will report to the Director of Inclusive Education and follow the school’s 10-month calendar. To learn more about what Northland School Division has to offer, please visit www.nsd61.ca/careers.
Major Responsibilities include:
- Provide intervention and/or support services to students and families who may be at risk or currently facing social, emotional, behavioral or family challenges
- Promote effective communication and parenting skills
- Build skills with the students individually and in small groups
- Assist in finding information and resources such as counseling after hour crisis response workers
- Advocate within the school and the community
- Promote preventative opportunities within the schools and community
- Collaborate with community agencies
Qualifications include:
- Degree in Social Work.
- Valid driver's license
The vision of the program is to provide free confidential intervention services to students and families in order to support their emotional, behavioral and social wellbeing. The salary for this position is based on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefit package is also provided.
