IT Help Desk Assistant
If you’re looking for an adventurous career in education, you’ve come to the right school division! Northland School Division is seeking an IT Help Desk Assistant based out of Peace River, Alberta.
In this position, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end users with computer systems, hardware, or software issues. You will also respond to queries, run diagnostic programs, isolate problems, and determine and implement solutions. An excellent Help desk assistant must have sound technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution. They must also be customer-oriented and be patient when supporting our end users. A successful candidate requires both hard and soft skills to perform their duties effectively.
Qualifications Required
- Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to tier-1 technical requests.
- Respond to queries via phone and email.
- Help develop step-by-step training materials, tutorial videos, infographics, and support documents.
- Provide technical assistance and support for incoming concerns related to systems, software and hardware.
- Document internal procedures and end user interactions.
- Ask educated questions and listen to end users to determine the root cause of issues.
- Work through the problem-solving process with end users, empowering them to do the same in the future.
- Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems.
- Report significant and recurring issues to the tier-2 support team.
- Collect feedback to determine patterns and issues to inform FAQs and to ease troubleshooting.
- Order, ship, and receive IT department deliveries.
- Maintain IT storage areas and inventory/asset tracking documentation.
- Support the maintenance of IT databases and software applications.
Experience Required
- High school diploma required.
- Previous help desk experience or customer service experience essential.
- Experience with Google Workspace for Education and Google Admin console is an asset.
- Experience with active directory and student information systems (SIS) is an asset.
- Experience with educational software and learning management systems is an asset.
- Experience troubleshooting within a Windows operating system environment is an asset.
- Additional IT qualifications and training would be valuable.
Must be eligible to work in Canada to be considered for this position.
