Northland School Division is seeking an advocate for Indigenous Education and a proponent of FNMI language and culture to help us lead the way in First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) education.  Applications are invited to fill the role of Program Consultant for the School Food Services department, effective immediately. The successful applicant will provide consulting services for approximately ten (10) community-based nutritional school lunch programs in Northern Alberta.  Duties are divided between the divisional office in Peace River, Alberta, and the lunch programs. These include:

  • Training of kitchen staff in the areas of nutrition, food handling procedures, sanitation, purchasing, etc.
  • Menu planning and preparation of accompanying paperwork
  • Responsibility for financial aspects of the programs

Commercial cooking experience is required as well as the willingness to travel and be away overnight. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills are also necessary.

Qualifications:  Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition and Food Science or a Nutrition Management Certificate, and 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience working in a food services-related field.  The ability to work in an intercultural environment would be an asset. A combination of education and experience will be considered. A valid driver’s license is required. The successful applicant must be computer literate, flexible, and comfortable working in a team environment.

The starting salary range for this position is $46,536 to $79,725 per annum. A comprehensive benefit package is also provided.
