Northland School Division is accepting applications for the position of Collegiate Community Champion at Bill Woodward and Conklin School. The starting date for this position is August 25th, 2025. Anzac School and Bill Woodward School are located in the hamlet of Anzac, approximately 50 kilometres south of Fort McMurray. Conklin is a kindergarten to grade 9 school located in the hamlet of Conklin. Conklin is the most southern community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It is a quiet, rural community located approximately 155 kilometres southeast of Fort McMurray on scenic Christina Lake and can be accessed from Alberta Highways 63 and 881.  You can learn more about what Northland School Division has to offer by visiting www.nsd61.ca/careers.

As a Collegiate Community Champion, you will support Collegiate programming in the community by assisting with Dual Credit and Pre-Employment opportunities, sharing information with students and staff, supporting students enrolled in programs, and building and maintaining partnerships with industry, post-secondary institutions, and the community. You will also assist with grant applications to sustain Collegiate programming, coordinate transportation for students, track student credits, and support data collection and reporting for Collegiate and Assurance reporting.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Provide information to schools (principal) on programming opportunities.
  • Provide information to students and families regarding program opportunities.
    • Information nights and daytime meetings.
    • Classroom visits.
    • Recruitment of students for programs.
  • Employment education and support.
    • Resume and cover letter creation.
    • Interview preparation.
    • Job search.
  • Work with new and existing industry/community partners.
    • Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) and Work Experience placements.
    • Financial support for programs.
    • Partnerships with programs.
  • Grant applications.
    • Collegiate.
    • Dual Credit.
    • Workplace and Careers.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Knowledge and experience working with industry.
  • Class 5 Drivers and clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Interest in working with youth/young adults.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Dependability. 

What would be considered an Asset.

  • Knowledge of dual credit and pre employment programs.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Meet).
  • Experience in writing grant proposals.
