Year-end Message from Board Chair

Posted on June 26

Tansi, Edlanat’e, Greetings everyone,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank parents, guardians, community members, and education partners for your ongoing support, partnership, and trust throughout the year. Your resilience and commitment in supporting Northland students have been inspiring. Your involvement and commitment are key to helping students thrive.

This year has brought challenges and celebrations. We returned to each community to continue the conversations we started last year. Feedback from parents, guardians, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members helped validate Northland School Division's Education Plan. The priorities in the plan reflect what we heard. The suggestions shared during these visits helped make the plan even stronger by focusing on how we build relationships, support student learning, and honour Truth and Reconciliation.

We were also proud to receive a provincial award from the Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta for advancing one of the Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. It is a meaningful recognition of the work happening across Northland.

I encourage everyone to take a moment to review the Tri-Annual Reports. They showcase what Northland School Division has accomplished during the 2024 2025 school year:

The third and final report will be published in September, and it will include a celebration of this year’s graduates.

As we head into the summer, we hope you find time to rest and enjoy special moments with your family. We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall and continuing our journey together in support of every learner.

Hai, Hai, Mahsi cho, thank you again. Have a safe and healthy summer.

Sincerely,

Tanya Fayant
Board Chair
