Information about Wildfire MWF-017 (May 16, 2024)

Attention Anzac Parents and Guardians,

As you know, we have been closely monitoring the situation around the wildfire MWF-017. The wildfire is currently listed as out of control and is located southwest of Fort McMurray. For the latest information about the wildfire please visit www.rmwb.ca/en/fire-and-emergency-services/alerts. 

Important Information for Anzac Families

• Anzac School and Bill Woodward School are open.
• We recognize that some families may choose to not send their children to school right now. We understand this decision, as it is always at the discretion of the parent/guardian. Please notify the school to excuse this absence.

Northland Games Postponed

Due to the proximity of a nearby wildfire and our commitment to the safety and well-being of Northland School Division students and staff, we have decided to postpone the Northland Games. This event, which traditionally draws hundreds of student-athletes from across the province, features a range of traditional games and track and field events.

We are currently targeting a rescheduled date in September and will provide more specific details and confirm the new date as soon as they are finalized.

We understand the importance of the Northland Games to our students and their families and greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility during this time. Ensuring the safety of all participants remains our highest priority.
